چکیده

Migraine is a very prevalent disease worldwide and major cause of disability. As known for long time, migraine associated with neurogenic inflammation. Epidemiological studies have shown that comorbid several chronic inflammatory diseases, including multiple sclerosis (MS), rheumatic diseases (CIRDs) bowel (IBDs). This brief narrative review highlights some recent data supporting link between these three diseases. Studies found prevalence approximately two-fold higher in compared to the general population. The causal has not been identified yet. Here, we suggest systemic mediators (such as cytokines) gut microbiome make worse or add significant risks. Systemic inflammation biomarkers modification are certainly avenues worth exploring.

Autoimmune diseases are caused by a defect of the human immune system characterised by an inability to recognize their own antigens and by a pathological response against these antigens. Although the aetiology of these diseases is unknown, there is a number of cellular and molecular mechanisms which can underlie these reactions. Complex interactions between genetic, infectious and/or environmen...

Migraine and multiple sclerosis.

Migraine is a common condition thought to result from vasomotor changes usually in the distribution of the carotid and vertebro-basilar arteries. According to Kunkle and Wolff (1951) the disorder has been estimated to occur in approximately 8% of patients examined in general practice, but the true incidence is unknown. In the British Medical Journal (1963) it is stated that if 'classical' cases...

Lipoic acid: a novel therapeutic approach for multiple sclerosis and other chronic inflammatory diseases of the CNS.

The naturally occurring antioxidant lipoic acid (LA) was first described as an essential cofactor for the conversion of pyruvate to Acetyl-CoA, a critical step in respiration. LA is now recognized as a compound that has many biological functions. Along with its reduced form dihydrolipoic acid (DHLA), LA reduces and recycles cellular antioxidants such as glutathione, and chelates zinc, copper an...
